WhiteStar's
Gulf of Mexico Digital Database
is a one-stop dataset for the petroleum industry that includes comprehensive
survey, well, lease, bathymetry, and cartographic coverages of Federal
and State waters in the Gulf of Mexico. This highly accurate dataset is
excellent for displaying well spots, lease boundaries, or pipelines and
is ready to load into many popular mapping packages.
Data
Source
WhiteStar's Gulf of Mexico Digital Database is
collected from Minerals Management Service (MMS) and
National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Enhancement
Using ESRI GIS technology, WhiteStar has created polygonal coverages
for Federal and Texas State Water Surveys with attributes and map-friendly
annotation. The resulting data can be displayed as annotated polygons,
but are also optimized for well spotting and GIS queries. The Offshore
Surveys for all Federal and State waters are seamless across state
and onshore/offshore boundaries.
Content
Surveys:
Data layers include MMS Block and MMS Area Boundaries. Tabular
attributes include MMS region code, protraction number, protraction approval
date, block number, area name and code, and state and county API code.
Wells:
Data consists of well locations and production in the Federal portion
of the Gulf of Mexico, the Texas State Waters, and the Louisiana State
Waters.
Each well may include the following attributes:
- Federal Offshore - API number, well name, operator,
field number, spud date, surface and bottom lease number, well location,
well type, bottom location, engineering data, and deviated survey information.
- Texas State Waters - (basic header information) API
number, well coordinates, status number; (supplementary API well report)
well name and number, operator, location, lease and gas ID number, field
reservoir, lease name, permit number, completion and plug dates, and
total depth.
- Louisiana State Waters - API number, well name, operator,
well status, well coordinates, and total depth.
Lease: Data include polygons
for all active MMS leases in the Gulf of Mexico. Tabular attributes include
lease and sales numbers.
Cartography:
Data include MMS planning district boundaries, field outlines, pipeline
data, shipping fairways, coastline, 8g line, and 5/10-year lease boundary.
Bathymetry:
Data grid is based on several million depth soundings
in the Gulf of Mexico. Accuracy depends upon
data density.
