WhiteStar's Public Land Survey is a seamless, high-resolution database of Congressional Survey townships and sections that is ideal for base maps and plotting land ownership and leases. The Public Land Survey (also known as PLSS, Digital Land Grid, or Digitized Section, Township and Range) precisely overlays USGS Digital Orthophotos, Digital Raster Graphs, and Digital Elevation Data, making it useful for indexing and analysis.

Data Source
WhiteStar's Public Land Survey is digitized from USGS 1:24,000 series topographic maps using a highly accurate spatial averaging digitizing technique, which captures corner boundaries to +/- 40 foot accuracies. The Wyoming resurveys are included and Carter townships are used for Kentucky and Tennessee.

Enhancement
Using ESRI GIS technology, WhiteStar has created polygonal coverages with attributes and map-friendly annotation. The resulting data are seamless across state and county boundaries and have clean polygons, layers, and annotation. The data can be displayed as annotated polygons, but are also optimized for well spotting and GIS queries.
